Frosted Flakes

Good morning from a chilly little corner of the world! Cold one last night and everyone is mostly back to hay feeding twice a day and just nibbling the worn out pasture. Here is one of the new ewes and Merlin enjoying their frosted flakes. Glad to say the flock is doing well and the ram is doing his best to make sure lambs are here in the spring!

Out here in Utah we are (hopefully) a little ways from images like these. The garden is still producing and the pasture remains thick and green. But your chilly picture this morning made me sit back and take stock. Am I ready? Nope. I mean physically we are prepared (the hay is all tucked in the barn, and the herds are growing their thick parkas for the year), but mentally I don't think I'm ready to relinquish this beautiful fall just yet.
Stay warm out there.

You can have all that coldness. I am not ready for this. I want it to stay warm. But we have wood. So we really are ready. I sure hope you get lots of happy healthy lambs next year! I am still thinking about if I want to breed my ewes or not. Still not sure yet. I am breeding my does though. Gotta have milk!

This probably means it won't be long before this starts happening in my area too. I'm not sure that I'm ready for it to get and stay that cold, but a little frost in the morning is always pretty.
