Scottish Lumberjack's Stocking

Brett is coming down to Cold Antler for the Holidays. He's bringing his new mount, Sadie (I think he named her Sadie?) the Amish Standardbred. Brett, Patty, Mark, and I will all be out for a Christmas ride and drive with the horses and feasting on our own home-raised hams and roasting birds. There are no barns to raise, fences t build, or roofs to repair. All the four of us plan on doing is enjoying each other's company, our horses, the holiday, and a few adult beverages.
Lamb is also on the menu, I wish it was one of mine, but its from a local farm. I just couldn't slaughter Monday. He's remaining on staff to breed future lambs and be a farm mascot. He has no idea how lucky he is because a cream-sauce braised lamb of leg might be worth the guilt...

Sounds like you and your friends have a veryu nice celebration planned - enjoy this time of rest and relaxation - we have now lost our snow cover, but there will be more. I love the blue ox/highland cross. A team of highland oxen are something to behold - saw one once in the flesh - wow!
I was glad to see Monday on your Barn Tour video yesterday and to know today that he will remain a CAF fixture. Where are the geese these days - or did I miss their exit?
Oh the geese are surely here! probably out with the sheep when I took that video, as they like to bother them and steal their grass and grain. All three, Cyrus, Saro, and Ryan are doing well out in the snow today
I am glad you've decided to spare Monday! How' the little guy doing? Haven't seen him lately.
Sounds like a good time to me! The stocking is brillant. You definitely got the Highland Cow bangs just right :)
Glad to hear Monday is sticking around. While I will admit I love a leg of lamb, Monday is a fine looking sheep and I'm sure he'll help make some cute and sturdy lambs.
Sometimes farm animals for whatever reason cross that space between being dinner and being something else. I'm glad Monday crossed that space. I think he'll reward you with beautiful lambs and lots of great wool.
we have 3 wether goats who, like your lamb, should count their blessings! they serve as pets for family and fun for visiting kids. but ohhh we do love goat meat.
looks really cute
this is really cute.
looks really cute
I'm also glad that you are keeping Monday. Certain animals can endear themselves to you and Monday seemed to fit the bill. Do you still have Lilly at CAF?
Merry Christmas Monday!!!!! I'm glad he will be sticking around, too.
Love that stocking!
Sounds like a blast. Hope the weather is perfect for your plans. Aidan will be thrilled and relieved to hear Monday has been spared from being dinner. Even though he loves lamb. Monday made quite an impression on him. All the best to you.
Sounds like a wonderful plan for Christmas. Peace and love to you and all your animal family-Karen from CT
Adorable stocking!
Congrats to Monday on wheedling his way into your heart. :)
