i do apologize

I'll be back soon, and updating you all on the story and the farm. But I'm currently dealing with a bad case of the flu. See you all tomorrow, perhaps. Today, sleep.

Jenna, I am so sorry that you are not feeling well. I am sending you a "Get Well" hug from Virginia. I wish that I lived closer so that I could feed your "babies" while you are ill. Sleep well knowing that lots of prayers are directed your way.

Ick. You and me both. I swear by eating lots of garlic and slurping honey from a spoon. I hope you feel better. Flus and colds are no fun.

Feel Better Jenna. Good sleep and down time is a welcome event even if forced to accept it because of the flu. Enjoy the rest.

Feel better soon! Here's an old wives tale that seems to work - at least for us: if you place unpeeled onions around your house (especially one next to your bed where you're resting) - they are supposed to absorb the bad germs. Like I said - an old wives tale, but no one in our house has been sick at all so far this winter. There's my two cents worth. ;o) Anyway - hope you're feeling better soon!

put a kettle of water on your wood burning stove (great humidifier) ... take some whiskey mixed with honey and lemon juice. Watkins Menthal Camphor Medicated Ointment.... rub that on your back and chest and apply a warm tea towel or washcloth ... a old warm shirt works too... better than anything you can buy over the counter!

I have another coupla smiles for you. Recently North Carolina has had frigid Arctic air. Last year, on Christmas Day, daffodil shoots were pushing through the ground. Not so this year, plus we have had Arctic air. However, I was digging in compost just now and noticed green blades battled their way into the sun, just the first two inches. Even the rose is showing green nubs outlined in dark red.

Change of topic. Your book and the black and white graphic of your grater inspired my to look for my own box grater. I searched every kitchen cabinet, high and low, but could not locate it. Finally, last week, I looked underneath and voila, there it was. Just now, I noticed it is a Bromwell 119, complete with the town, state, and zip code. Here is the URL, for a smile.

Get well soon! Drink lots of fluids, and throw some thyme, oregano and/or rosemary in your tea, it'll help fight the bug. If you have ginger and garlic (yeah, it's kind of gross when you start adding garlic) throw that in too. Honey will make it all go down more easily.

Hi Jenna, hope you feel well soon. You know, when I'm really, really stressed out, I get hit with something--a bad cold, flu, something, because my defenses are down. You've been really stressed and it affected your immune system. Take care of yourself, and you'll bounce back. Mimi

If you have readers who are concerned about Haiti or other causes, perhaps you would consider doing some like this: on your blog.

On the right hand side of her blog you can see the Knitter w/o borders info.

The knitters have raised over $600,000!

With a large, aware readership you could really help get a message out. Of course, there are other organizations to partner with.

Elderberry syrup--Sambucol or Sambuactin is my remedy of choice...also a good preventative. A shot of Captain Morgan's spiced rum in a hot glass of lemonade with honey never hurts either. Doesn't help the symptoms, but you won't care quite so much that you feel crappy.
