Yup, know what you mean. We were in Ireland for two weeks and after a week I was pretty homesick for the dogs and chickens.
I'm still not sure if that's a good thing or not!

We learned about 6 years ago that one of us should never leave. Ever. Not that we want to leave anyway. Something always happened, that others were unable to anticipate. (Horns stuck in a fence, etc.)

When our 17-year old blind sled dog managed to slip his collar and walk off into the woods (he was later found...), we knew we could never leave again. And we haven't. One of us is always here with a watchful, knowledgeable eye.

Jenna, you are blessed to have a competent caretaker while away, but still miss it. No one understands all the nuances that goes with the daily chores and the simple, heartfelt pleasure you receive from each animal. It feeds your soul.

I'm really glad to read that I am not the only one who misses my animals dreadfully when I am away. It is hard for us to leave home together because of my four dogs. I worry about them, and miss them so much when we are away, that it is REALLY hard for me to leave, even for overnight. No one can take care of them, or care ABOUT them, the way I do. All I do is worry and think about them while we're gone. It's hard. I KNOW my husband doesn't understand, so I'm glad there are others who DO. I even miss my cats and chickens.
But I'm glad, Jenna, that YOU were/are able to get away a couple of times a year. You need your family, too.

I pine for my pups anytime I am away from them too! I'm sure when I have my farm it will be the same! Enjoy your vacation!
