New Vlog: Thinking About Pigs?

Thanks, interested in learning more about raising pigs - although I temporarily lost focus and actually was cackling out loud, almost crying with laughter reading your 'big guns, puffy shirt' comments scrolling on the screen.

When you do the next one about moving them outside, I'd be interested to learn about which breeds you have tried, roughly how long it takes to get them to slaughter weight. How do you judge when they are the right weight for slaughter - just by eye once you're used to it, or do you walk them over some kind of weighing platform?

Specifics of what kind of shelter, and fencing you have found worked out for your outdoor pen. Is it important to keep other animals away (think I remember something about pigs eating a chicken that strayed into their pen?). Common pig illnesses to look out for etc

Expanding our chicken flock here - good time to reread my copy of 'Chick Days'. We got 2 new chicks a few weeks ago, a Wyandotte and a Partridge Rock, now 6 weeks old and moving outside today. I'm pretty sure the fact that we are chicken owners is all down to you, with your 'just get on and do it, stop thinking and talking about it' approach. We do enjoy watching 'the girls' when we let them free range in the evenings - especially as they scratch up the cutworms trying to decimate our veg garden!

Hi Jenna,

Thanks for this video! I've been thinking of raising a couple pigs in an area in our old orchard. Do you know anyone who has raised pigs around orchard trees before? I'm getting mixed messages when researching whether or not they would damage the trees.

Thank you!
