Thank You!

Thank you to all of you who mailed cards, canned treats (Got the tomato jam, TF!), cookies, gifts, donations and other wonderful messages and comments to the farm. Thank you to all those silent readers who click on the blog ads or support the sponsors. It is things like this that keep me going. And thank you to everyone who is quietly keeping track of me, I appreciate you as well. The holidays are always made better by the support of this community. I see you in my inbox, at workshops, events, and in my mailbox outside. I saw a box of cookies at Battenkill Books yesterday mailed by one of my readers and I beamed with pride in the kindness and love of you folks. You mean the world to me. You're the only reason I am here, living this life.

You may not realize it, but little things like just keeping up with me and shooting the occasional comment or email have such a power of encouragement and validation. If I don't reply, trust me, it is simply from a lack of time and resources to do so, but I read them all and am very very grateful.

I wanted to share this little gift mailed to me from a reader down in Pennsylvania. She sewed up a Maude Stocking! It has that same look of disdain and boredom that I have seen on that horrible ewe every day since I brought her to my farm. I love that sheep, so much. I think this is hilarious and it is hanging over my wood stove!

I showed it to Maude. This was her reaction.

That stocking is AWESOME! I love Maude, love your blog, love your books. Thanks for inspiring this barnhart-infected girl to keep working toward the dream, even when it feels impossible.

I can see she's thrilled. That stocking looks just like her.

Jenna, you are such an inspiration to so many of us that wish we had your youth and spunk and spirit of who we wish we were. I read you and think it can be done, even in my own small way, with my rabbits and my gardens.

Thank you, for being who you are and doing what you do. Happy Solstice, Merry Christmas, and a prosperous New Year to you, in every way possible.

Awesome stocking. Glad you got the jam. I get paranoid sending preserves that they will get broken or opened somehow in shipping.

I, too, am awed by the stocking. Much more so than Maude, apparently. She looks like she can't believe that's not food you're showing her. "What is your point, Food Lady?"

The picture proves that the sewer got Maude's expression just right. Too funny. P.S. Would you re-post the mailing address for us to send you items? Is it c/o Cold Antler Farm, Cambridge, NY 12816?

LOVE that stocking!!!!
To know what A gift CAF is to me i first need toashore how exhausting this day was. Up at 5 to teach my private clients Pilates. Then home to care for our 8-year-old who's on the upswing from the flu, got him settled with my mother. Off to the candy kitchen and the MAYHEM of this amazing Christmas season. Then sent off to a boutique to sell but the boutique was quiet (totally stressful since I was needed at the kitchen). Then off the the subway to pick up teenagers to bring the Christmas shopping. Except they aren't here, the trains are too full so they are goofing off and haven't even gotten on the train yet. I want to cry....
But wait...
I can read Jenna's blog. I can decompress while waiting for my boys. Then I can actually have fun when we go shopping.
So you are giving me sanity, peace and love. That's what Cold Antler does for me. Brings me back to myself. Shows me pictures of friends. Reminded me how much I miss my dog. Even brings me the smell of snow (something we haven't had yet in Boston).
Merry Christmas, blessed Solstice, and happy new year.

I'm glad you like the stocking, Jenna - and I think I got Maude's particular version of stinkeye down pretty well. Enjoy, and tell Maude she should appreciate that she's such an inspiration. :)
