White Tails
Walk into any public space in America. Walk into a restaurant, or grocery store or market square. Take a look at the people all around you, from the youngest infant to the elders in wheelchairs. Take in that whole scene and know, with every fiber of your being, that every human you are looking at is a better deer hunter than me.

It's too early in the season to be hard on yourself. Hang in there. You will likely have other opportunities in the next few days.
STOP!! You have yet to see me tromp through the woods...lol. You'll get one.
I have every confidence in you.
Nah, buck up Jenna! There's always the one that gets away! Tomorrow's a new day.

Hahaha! That's too funny, but not likely true. With all that you have accomplished, I'm sure you'll get your deer in no time. Where's that "I can do anything" spirit?;-)
I haven't gotten one yet either... so don't feel bad! It'll happen!
Haha- no, there is a reason it is called "hunting" and not "getting"!
Oh dear, oh deer.
I'll quote a guy from our club, It's called deer hunting, not deer shooting.
Soooo, didn't see anything or you missed? Did they get wind of you? Or buck fever? Hmm??
I had a bit of a rough season last year. I probably won't get a chance to go here for another week or so, prolly muzzleloader. Got to get my confidence up, I'm in line for a bear tag next year. Geez.
Ah, c'mon! The season just started. You'll get your venison steaks. I hope my brother gets some for me.
Haha! No way. I don't think I've ever seen a deer that didn't see me first.
HA! Sorry you haven't got one yet; but that was clever writing! ;) You'll get yours, eventually!
I heard no end of abuse when my father got a deer that season and I didn't. Of course, using a Honda Accord isn't usually recommended in the state Hunting guide...
Haha - that's a day where my dad would say "the hunting was great - the killing, not so much...". :)
bet you are much better than I would be. Relax and enjoy the time in the woods.
Bet you would be better than I would. Just relx and enjoy the quiet time in the woods. You'll get one, I have confidence in you.
A) It's just getting cold so the deer haven't moved down the mountain yet.
B) You are a fine hunter. It's the deer that are slow.
C) Next time out, you'll get a beauty!
This made me crack up. My boyfriend always goes hunting and rarely if ever returns with anything (same with fishing). Like SusieQT said, "hunting" not "getting!"
You try. That puts you ahead of all the people who don't ever set foot in the woods.
Haha, whoa! That was soul-crushing! Don't say that! Failures that you feel low about, especially early on, are opportunities for learning and growth, not indications that you suck at something. But that was a beautiful paragraph other than the end, you should reuse it for something more enlightening! :)
Haha, whoa! That was soul-crushing! Beautiful, and funny, but tragic! Don't say that! Failures that you feel low about are opportunities for learning and growth, not an indication that you're just inherently bad at something. You know this.
You manifest what you believe...isn't that something you are always saying? Where's your positive belief?
No, every one, including you, is a better deer hunter than me.
Next season, when we have moved up there, I will take you to my moms farm in PA. You can take one with out leaving the house! Dozens on the lawn! Every morning like clockwork. It is unreal how many there are. They eat everything. Last year my mom almost hit one with the lawn tractor! She tried to chase it but it wouldn't move. Wishing u a clear shot and steady aim! And a dose of good luck!
Jenna, sometimes you just make me laugh out loud. Thanks for the Monday morning chuckle.

Nuh uh. Never been deer hunting in any way, shape or form. You is better than me.
I am hunting for the first time this season. I am 51 and my son, who is out there with me, is 10. No sightings yet but I've seen some signs and it's a learning thing at the moment. At this point, I'm just loving being in the woods without too many other hunters around. If we are blessed enough to get a deer, I will be grateful. But it's also a blessing to be able to be in the woods with my son, discovering together. Cutest orange clad kid in the world.

Have no fear, Jenna, you are assuredly a better hunter than I. I haven't fired a gun since I was 12, and I couldn't hit anything even back then. (I'm 40 now, btw)I live in Northern Michigan - Opening Day is a School Holiday around here and I have never been hunting. In fairness to me, I've never enjoyed venison and I am a vegetarian so, for me, going hunting doesn't make much sense. See...you win!
Good luck on the hunt!

Bah, I doubt that. I don't hunt, so there's no way of knowing, but when your very core shies away at the thought, I bet you have me beat.
You are so funny! You'll get it - wait and see.
Have you hunted where you are not welcome?
Are you following the hunting laws?
Have you shot anyone/anything you did not intend to?
Not everyone is a better hunter than you.
-Tom
I forgot another one, you are a better (way better) hunter than the idiot (blasted, effin, I can't come up with bad enough swear words)so-called hunter who shot my horse when he was a weanling. He survived, has a big scar on his hip, and hasn't seemed to suffer any lameness from it. For I while there, I wasn't sure. If I had any proof of who did it, I would rip out their throat with my bare hands.
