Enjoy the story of a young writer living in Washington County with her fancy dogs, sheep, lots of chickens, fiber & meat rabbits, geese, ducks, turkeys, a hive and a garden. Expect to hear a lot about mountain music, the civil war, local food, and my friends along the way. It's a big time folks.

Amen, Jenna. I had no damage at ALL here in Western Mass, for which I'm very, very thankful. We had 3/4" of rain and lost power for about 20 minutes... that was it. Glad you're ok, too!
We lost an apple tree, but I decided to think "Mmmm, applewood smoked bacon" instead of "Argh, my apple tree!!!!"
We also had a very odd moment of getting used to the farmin' life. The week before, all our meat rabbits were killed by something big enough to break into their wire hutches (our rabbits were our first livestock foray). Then, when the storms came, all the hutches were picked up and tumbled about, despite being very sheltered, so we thought they might have died anyway, which seemed a worse way to go than ending their lives as the prey animals they are, and ended up feeling better about the incident. We weren't going to let it stop us, but even my tender-hearted husband is excited again about the new set of rabbits that will arrive soon, after our shift in view.
I don't know, maybe that will make someone else who reads this blog and had a bad incident feel better, too. And I'm glad your damage wasn't worse!
So glad to hear and see that you had very little damage from Sandy. I have family in South Jersey and thankfully, they are OK too. But there are so many that will never be able to forget this storm .... kind of like I am with hurricane Hazel.
Glad you are okay. It could have been so much worse. Continued blessings, farmer.
Let us know if you still need help with repairs.
