Jenna, as someone who writes a daily blog post about the Bible, I can so relate to this video.
An innate part of my being is to question, research, puzzle and then question some more. Some people find it offensive to question Bible matters and so the emails and comments I get from those people can be quite, quite harsh.
I have learned, as you apparently have, to moderate those comments and just not put them out into the blogosphere.
Some, I respond to privately, others, I simply delete.
I write my blog for me, for accountability for my New Years resolution to read the Bible in a year.
Thanks for sharing the video.

They were just speaking of his TED talk on Pop Culture Happy Hour. Have you heard that podcast? Sounds like I need to check this out!

Perhaps I'm too old for this or I didn't wait for the good part. I stopped it at a little over a minute and that was a long minute.

Brilliant observations. I hope many take this to heart.

I haven't come across him before (probably 'cos I'm in Wales) and though he may have been speaking sense, I'm with doglady on this so I pressed stop too. He spoke too fast and got my hackles up.

Perhaps I have had too much inter-reaction of the bad kind on eBay recently when a Buyer of the Worst Kind bought something I was selling . . .

I hope the negative sort of postings you sometimes get have calmed down in recent months.

I agree with doglady. Too much noise and not enough content.

doglady: I hear ya! you didn't miss anything, lots of fast talk about the obvious. Ugly posts should be deleted. do not give crazy angry folks access to your life or your blog. I got worn out listening to him, but it made me conscious of the fact that I am way too wordy and need to learn to shut up/edit lest I sound like him. so that was good :=)

Ze's trademarks are rubber ducks, not blinking, and talking fast. he's done that since back in '07 when the show started. If you guys don't like this video below, then you are certainly not his audience. But I think most of you who tire of blog politics will hear this first video (after a 5 year or so break from his last show) - It's an invocation for beginning!

I watched the second video, all of it. there is nothing not to like about his philosophy. He is clever, witty even in his style. it's the stuff that you read on cards and posters and the quotes that appear all over facebook. But, like doglady, I think I am too old for this stuff. one way or another I have heard it all before. I'd rather spend my down time here, where a young lady is sharing her life story as it unfolds in real time. It is all of gritty, passionate, philosophical without preaching, honest, and cuts to the chase. This is the style I appreciate most. even if she doesn't appreciate sweat pants in all their many functional appearances. jmo. (but not in an offensive manner, at least I hope not).

Meh, I agree with doglady and others...I'm not nearly as impressed by him as he seems to be by himself ;)

On an unrelated note, I've just started reading Barbara Kingsolver's new book, Flight Behavior, and they're shearing sheep in the fall...reminded me of conversations on this blog :) Anyway, it's an excellent book so far (as are all her books, IMO) - I highly recommend it!

I get it, all of it, in a way that is meaningful to me. I have seen the guy in shiny shoes, but he walks past me, and I him.

To me it is all germane.
