We call those Barbie carrots at our house.
On another note - I've been following and loving your blog for ages-lurking in the shadows I should say. I wanted to put a link for your books on my newly hatched blog but thought I would ask you where you wanted me to direct people Battenkill? Indiebound? What do you prefer? Love that you quit corporate raiding for dirty work. Congrats!

This is why I love growing my own carrots- the crazy ones like this never make it to the market, and they're lots of fun! :)

Is that a carrot you planted this year? Mine are no where that big yet!

It looks like a little elf or garden gnome. This afternoon when I was planting the seed potatoes that I forgot about (!), I dug up a huge parsnip from who knows when!!! I'm not brave enough to eat it since I don't recall growing them last year so it could be 2 years old and wintered over during the last winter which was very mild. I was able to hang my laundry outside all winter! All of that energy savings have gone to electricity this summer trying to stay cool with fans and a few window air conditioners.

I showed that photo to my husband who declared it "creepy" and that he "wouldn't eat that." Ha ha. I thought it was cute! It looks like a little person. How funny nature can be.

There's a new side business for you! Make a line of cards with pictures on the front that are based on odd-shaped veggies that come out of your garden. You can sell them as blank cards or with a funny line inside...people might latch on to them??!!?? Maybe??
