entered!
Well folks. I did it. I filled out the entry form, paid my $27 entry fee, and next Sunday Merlin and I will be entered in out first ever USDF show. I'll have on a jacket and shirt with a fluffy collar (borrowed from a coworker keeping score and not competing), and Merlin will not have his hair braided and trimmed. We are in the most basic class, but I am still nervous. I have never competed in the dressage ring. All week we'll practice the course. Steele and Patty are entering too, in the same class. I have a feeling they'll crush team Cold Antler but that's okay by me! photo from fell pony society

Best of Luck, Jenna & Merlin. Just have fun & see it all as a great experience....Win, place, show or no doesn't matter ~ all that's important is that you learn from it and have fun. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, though.
Hope you have a great time doing this! I ran across this and thought of you ... http://gizmodo.com/5906406/cuppow-turns-any-jar-into-a-travel-mug
Have a good one!
I have a feeling that, regardless of the outcome, this will be a wisdom-imparting experience that you will never forget. Enjoy it! (And I hope someone gets video!)
How exciting, can't wait to hear how it goes! I also echo what Mist said above. I think he'll be the handsomest pony out there, with the coolest rider, but then I'm a little partial ;)
Jenna, you will do great and learn so much. I agree with Moose Hollow, the important thing is that you to have fun. We must have pictures of Jenna and Merlin!!

Hey! You'll put up a fight against team Liv Brook! What a great ride today girl!
Wow! You are diving right in. It's going to be an awesome...have fun!
That's so exciting! I remember my first horse show and and the way all the nerves and hope and excitement tangled together. I hope you and Merlin have a fantastic experience. It's been over 10 years since I last competed but my horse and I are sending you good vibes from British Columbia, Canada.
Best of luck from a new follower. :)
Would have even dreamed this time last year you would be doing this???? Have a great time! Whether you win or lose; it is how you play the game.
I still get nervous when competing! My first few shows though, my goal was to just stay on and finish the test. It usually worked out, haha! Good luck!

Jenna, I have a 3 button black show coat, 100% wool you can have. I kept it for the "someday" I might show again, but the reality is no, no more for me! It's a size 20 (runs small) and great quality. Shoot me an email at pjo2179@aol.com if you're interested. Or if any readers are interested, do the same. :)
Good job! It takes a lot of guts to show. My unsolicitated advice?: breathe, center yourself, and make yourself long in the saddle. Oh, and don't be humble. Think that you are dang good. It's a little like a musical performance in that you are in a mind-set of how you want to show the world some nice things.

Center yourself, make yourself long in the saddle, and radiate confidence to that pony when you're in the ring.
Good luck!
More well wishes from British Columbia. I recall my first show - I was so nervous. But it was super fun. Go into it with that attitude and all will be well. :-)
I hope that all four of you do well but most importantly, I hope you have FUN!
Brave and the best way to learn. Best of luck.
Way to go Jenna! How fun! My horse and I just entered our first show last weekend, and like you, we kept it simple and real. You'll have a good time! Smile! You only compete against yourself, so go in feeling like a winner, because you and Merlin are!

Good for you, Jenna! I love how you jump right in and try new things; you really inspire me. Best of luck! Can't wait to hear how it goes :)
Excellent, Jenna! Quite inspiring actually...
I'm just curious - you mentioned in made From Scratch that you were in an equestrian team at school and gave it away as the emphasis was on competitive stuff i.e. shows etc. Has having your own horse made a difference?
