About Me

- Location: Jackson, New York, United States
Enjoy the story of a young writer living in Washington County with her fancy dogs, sheep, lots of chickens, fiber & meat rabbits, geese, ducks, turkeys, a hive and a garden. Expect to hear a lot about mountain music, the civil war, local food, and my friends along the way. It's a big time folks.

The pendant and the brow band together! Love it!
That last picture is absolutely breathtaking.
I know...merlin lunged past him at a fast trot and it looks like something from a movie poster.
tim is amazing, check out his work and adventures at 468photography.com, you can buy prints there for a few dollars. Or email him a request if something you want to buy isn't there.
Or just email him to tell him what a great job he is doing, because I'm not sure he realizes it yet!
I love the bridle on him! Perfect. You've found a soulmate of a horse...a rare and beautiful thing. And I echo Mist...that last photo is stunning...his spirit comes through even the shutters, lenses, and inter webs.
That last pictures is dreamy!
Have you become obsessed with horse blogs yet? Almost as addictive as homesteading ones...
No horse blogs yet, what are the good ones?
Last one is my favorite!
So gorgeous, especially the last one!
You both look great, and the constant ear to ear smile on your face in the photos........ wow! Priceless! That pony was worth every.......single.......cent. Glad you're both so very obviously enjoying yourselves!
Here are the ones I check regularly:
Tucker the Wunderkind
Behind the Bit
SprinklerBandit
The Literary Horse
Obviously, if you browse around those you'll find links to tons more.
And of course, the #1 source of horsey information/gossip/humor/awesome youtube links is the Chronicle of the Horse forums.
Just search "chronicle horse forums" and say adios to any free time you might have had. It's addicting, but also a GREAT resource.
Looking good!
One trick of the trade, twist his reins and slide the chin strap through and buckle when lunging.
...and remove the stirrups from the saddle.
Great photos, Jenna! I'm so happy for you :)
looking good you two!
great photos
Your hair is down and pretty, your looking more feminine!
Nice pictures!
Instead of removing the stirrups you can just run them up the leathers too.
You remind me of me many years ago. I also have/had a hobbit body in a horse world of model tall and thin riders. One thing I wish I felt then was not caring about it. The best joy is the smell of the end of his nose and forget the rest of the bulls*it. Youre a lucky girl.
Village Queen: I still care about it, but it doesn't stop me from my goals, and it won't stop me from posting for pictures in spandexy riding pants either! I'll never be tall or thin, but you will be a healthier version n of me every month.
These pictures are amazing. As someone who is learning to ride as an adult (after watching my kids for too long...) I can hear every word you are saying about learning to dance the dance :-) I want someone to come take pics like this of me!
Here is a good little 'how to run up your stirrups'. I got in trouble for having them hanging when I was lunging ...oops. Maybe I can save you!

Here is to 'keeping our heels down'!
