I never thought I would see the day when Jazz shared his bed with a cat. There my two boys are, George and Jazz, alpha males in their own right sharing a patch of padding and sun. When I adopted Jazz back in 2005 I was told he could never live with a cat. He had killed a cat once in his outdoor run in Knoxville. But all it took was a cat that lived like a dog, and he became a part of the pack. How about that?
I had a dog, an Akita, with a really strong prey drive. She wanted to chase cats, and most would run. But a dogsitting friends cat, who had grown up with big dogs, had no intention of running, and so became a friend rather than a chase toy...
If that was our Corgi and the house cat; the dog would look mortally injured and slink away to a new spot! It KILLS him to share the spotlight with...a cat??? C'mon now.
Our German Shorthair Pointer loves to chase our cat but she runs only when she feels like a game of chase. Other times they too like to share a warm patch of sunshine.
The pack thing is the key. My Husky will kill any cat that runs through his yard, but lets his own cats nudge him away from the food dish. And use his back as a stepping stool to make it easier to get to the window.

Two feral cats have adopted my home(outdoors). My 3 dogs (chocolate lab, yellow lab and a mix)have allowed this. My yellow lab has been know to catch squirrels and bring them to me as a gift. But they never chase these cats and the cats go on our walks! The cats want to rub up against the dogs to the point they can hardly walk. It's the cutest thing I have ever seen.
Enjoy the story of a young writer living in Washington County with her fancy dogs, sheep, lots of chickens, fiber & meat rabbits, geese, ducks, turkeys, a hive and a garden. Expect to hear a lot about mountain music, the civil war, local food, and my friends along the way. It's a big time folks.

That is what is so great about MC cats. They take charge and tell the doggies what is what. Great picture.
This is "The Truth About Cats and Dogs."
That is such a sweet picture... Makes me smile just looking at it. :)
I hope to see that kind of scene in my homestead someday.
Cute boys!
That is really incredible. Awesome!

George is HUGE. I really didn't appreciate how big he is until compared to Jazz.
How is Lilly doing? Has she ventured beyond the mud room yet?
