I visited a lovely old victorian home that has been turned into a fiber cooperative today. The owner of the home was a young woman in her 20s who keeps a flock of 50 cheviots, spins, felts, and knits. We were chatting about knitting projects when I told her about your blog and flock.
Spinning is definitely in my future, but for now I've got to plan what to do with the awesome alpaca, fresian, and merino/jacob fibers I got!
Dreamy! My fiber rabbits should be here next Sunday. I'm saving up for a wheel but would like to score a vintage one from somewhere. Ah, a girl can only dream......
Me too, it's hypnotic! On my way home, I stopped at my friend Sue's house, and was telling her all about the day, and she said her mom has a spinning wheel in her attic that she might part with!!!!
So happy there are people who spin. I have no desire to spin or to weave, but I love yarn. The process fascinates me,but I just have no interest. I'd be lost without spinner.
About 10 years ago I fell in love with spinning. Luckily for me, my father had recently retired and took up his love of woodwork full time. He built me a traditional saxony wheel. It clacks gently as I spin. It's hypnotic. lol I spin the fur from my angora rabbit, Annie and our husky Echo!
Enjoy the story of a young writer living in Washington County with her fancy dogs, sheep, lots of chickens, fiber & meat rabbits, geese, ducks, turkeys, a hive and a garden. Expect to hear a lot about mountain music, the civil war, local food, and my friends along the way. It's a big time folks.

What a lovely wheel. Ashford single drive, right? I have an Ashford and a Matchless. Spinning is such a pleasure.
