When I talk to my parents about aspirations to raise food and the rise of small farms once again they mention the movements of the 60’s and 70’s and seem cynical. I don’t think this feels the same though. I believe this time around has been a long time in coming and is more purposeful in its motives for most. When I think of how my soul feels so at home in the dirt I sometimes wish I would have pursued an ag degree over teaching—instead I have to get self taught (don’t get me wrong, I do love to teach, but there's just something all this...). To me this “greenhorn” initiative is intoxicating…want it to keep growing and growing and want to join in.
Enjoy the story of a young writer living in Washington County with her fancy dogs, sheep, lots of chickens, fiber & meat rabbits, geese, ducks, turkeys, a hive and a garden. Expect to hear a lot about mountain music, the civil war, local food, and my friends along the way. It's a big time folks.
