Jenna - way to make the leap and make life happen for you. Sometimes you just have to make the decision and never look back. He's gorgeous. I know you are thankful that he is yours.
Good for you that horse has an old soul.. Do you give the horse his strength or clothe his neck with a flowing mane ? Do you make him leap like the locust striking terror with his proud snorting? He paws fiercely, rejoicing in his strength, and charges into the fray. He laughes at fear, afraid of nothing; he does not sigh away from the sword. The qiver rattles against his side, along with flashing spear and lance. In frenzied excitement he eats up the ground; he cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds.
You're excitement is contagious! I've been reading your blog for several months and you farm is an inspiration. At 30+ years old I have wanted a horse since I was a little girl, and I finally convinced my husband to buy a small farm and we'll be getting our first horses later this spring. I look forward to reading about your new adventures with Merlin and Jasper.
Hi Jenna, I’ve never commented before, but I’ve been following your blog for years now! Your writing literally got me through college when I was living in apartments with a debilitating case of barnheart. I am so happy and excited for you to be moving towards getting a horse! Merlin looks absolutely beautiful and seems to be the perfect horse to grow with. Hopefully, before the end of 2012 I will be in a similar situation! I was just wondering if you have ever heard of Parelli Natural Horsemanship. Some people have very strong opinions about the Parelli program, but for me it’s hands down the best way to understand, stay safe, and have fun with horses. Their philosophy is Love, Language, and Leadership; and really what more is there to life? www.parellinaturalhorsetraining.com
Thanks again for your honest and raw portrayal of your life. I read a comment from another reader that said something about how great you are at manifesting your dreams and desires, and I couldn’t agree more. Your strength, philosophy, fearlessness, and beauty inspire me.
Enjoy the story of a young writer living in Washington County with her fancy dogs, sheep, lots of chickens, fiber & meat rabbits, geese, ducks, turkeys, a hive and a garden. Expect to hear a lot about mountain music, the civil war, local food, and my friends along the way. It's a big time folks.
