What a night!
The event at Battenkill Books was my best-attended book event ever. Standing room only, and an hour of reading, conversations, and questions. Folks came from a few states, shook hands, listened politely, and even laughed at my jokes. Jon did a wonderful introduction for me and Connie. I read a bit and talked a bit, and afterword made some new friends. A woman up the road who belongs to the Washington County Draft Association (I didn't even know about them) offered to teach me driving with her Percheron. A teacher from Saratoga just bought a homestead near mine, and we got to say hello to each other. A veterinarian with a Border Collie gave me a truckload (no joke) of Jacobs' wool and introduced me to her red Border Collie in her car (Gibson likes any event with girls). Jim Kunstler gave me a box of pots and pans for the farm. My coworkers brought me pie, and Cathy Daughton brought me sharpies tied up in a bow! Others I am forgetting to mention made the night complete as well. It was almost surreal, to see that amount of folks wanting to hear about my tornado of a dream. Soon as Jon sends some photos I'll post them! If I sound like I am gushing it's because I am. I'm just floored. Thank you all, so much.
And now for my next trick I will feed all the animals, have a glass of wine, and go to bed.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your event and it was such a success for you AND your hostess. Way to go!
Congratulations, Jenna! Well-deserved!
congratulations Jenna - hope to get down to Battenkill this smmer - its about a 5 hour drive for us from Ontario - I will be telling all folks I know about you and your blog
you really inspired me - today when I went to pick up my two pork bellies and 7 dozen of farm eggs I talked to the farmer we buy from and he agreed to think about going in with me to buy an italian breed for pork that is supposed to make awesome bacon and lardo (an italian delicacy). reading your blog has made me take the 'horns' and start getting more involved in the farming community around here in preparation for moving to the country at some time in the future - hopefully sooner than later
did youever think of maybe having your books sold at book stores up here in Ontario?
Hey Farmgirl? I think my books are in Canada, they are in Chapters. Just ask your local store to carry it!.
We are attached to you for the long run Jenna and are so happy you had the turnout you did. Wish I could have been there.
That sounds awesome - glad to hear it went so well!
Also, Cathy - best gift EVER.
Farmgirlwannabe, Thomas Allan is the publishing house that carries Barnheart here in Ontario and it was released in Dec so you should be able to find it or ask for it at any good bookstore.
Where are you located? I'm in Toronto and would love to carpool to a Cold Antler event this year!

P.S. Jon caught me with that darn lens too. I'm cutting up some celery sticks as we speak!
Congrats! Definitely a night full of happy memories.
Congrats, and I'm very happy for you. Passion attracts people! (I blame the fisheye lens, Jenna. ) :-)

I'm so happy to read about your successful event. Way to go Jenna!
Jenna, you deserve all that, and more! Glad you had a great time.
Congratulations on a successful event. Hopefully there are many, many more to come!
FYI, I was reading an issue of Grit magazine this weekend, and I saw Barnheart featured in the book section. I couldn't have squealed louder if it was my own book I'd stumbled on. It was like, HEY, I know that author! Or I feel like I do, anyway. :)
Sounds better than a birthday!
Glad it went well. :)
I was excited to read you got new to you pots and pans. It must be telling of something that I'm so excited on your behalf over cookware. lol
Amazing, I wish I lived anywhere on the East Coast because then I would have been able to go! Glad you had such a good turn out, even without me there! Congrats!
Congratulations!
Looks like you had a great time. Congrats on a successful party. :)
Great read! We both finished it this week. Love your writing style, you made me feel as though I was right there. Thank you! Best of luck!
Farm Girl - We're in Ontario too, I ordered my book online from Battenkill but I know when I talked to the people at Chapters/Indigo it was available on their site, or I could order and pay for it at the store :)
Callie K - We're in the Milton area and I would love to carpool too!!
Great turn out!!! :) Congrats :) ... PS - stay away from the juicer - a girl needs meat on her bones!
Wish I could have been there, Jenna!
Jenna,
Wish the heck I could have been there. I asked my kids for one Christmas present this year and it was "Barnheart". I'm 3/4 through it and LOVE it! Nice work!
I grew up in Greenwich, and get over that way often. It's a beautiful part of the world. I'm envious! OK OK..I have barnheart.

Farmgirl, if you're in the KW area you'll have to order it to get from the store so far. They don't have them right on the shelf :(
Sounds wonderful Jenna! I sure wish I had been there!
