Glad the chicks arrived and seems to be healthy. Have a questions for you. Jazz has been on my mind lately. Is he okay? We don't hear or see much of him. I know he is getting older and slowing down a bit. God bless.

Jazz is older, slower, has a tumor in his back leg. But he still is the same ol' boy. Both him and Annie are healthy as they can be at this age, and Annie still acts like a puppy, wrestling with Gibson every single day.

I don't write about the Sibes as much simply because they are retired family members, i take them for granted as already part of the story, forgetting that everyone out there hasn't had an update!

As I played this video, our dog and one of the cats could not figure out where those birds were located. They were'n behind the Christmas tree, or just outside the window...it was so funny watching them as they intently searched for the birds they could hear.

Cute as a button.

Maybe install 4ft chicken wire along the pig pen to prevent them from wandering in once moved to the barn?

I think Freedom Rangers will do better than the Cornish Cross would in the winter. Cornish Cross grow so fast their feather growth doesn't keep up with them. I think the Cornish would use so much energy trying to keep warm in the winter that it would interfer with growth. I've eaten both and the Freedom Rangers take a few weeks longer to grow out and are smaller, slightly chewier. However, I thought their flavor was superior. More chickeny (if that's a word). Are you going to sprout some grains for them so they get some green stuff instead of just being grain fed?
