Karen: I wasn't looking through the camera at all, I just held it up by the wheel, you're seeing what my wheel saw (with exception to the times I turned it to look at Gibson)
Goat Song, that is Gillian Welch, track 8, on her new CD, The Harrows and the Harvest.
Jenna, loved this video and I totally knew what you were doing(just holding the camera. . . .not looking thru the lens). Thank you for sharing your beautiful countryside. Yeah. . .let's see some Vermont leaves turning. I also noticed when the road changed!
Thanks for the ride Jenna. It brings back memories of the times I visited my grandparents in Shushan, NY. The farm is still there and my cousin lives on it. I believe you take county road 62 off of state route 313 (the one you travel on), and cross the Battenkill to get to it. My Uncle lives in Salem. Look up the Wirkki's. My family has been there since '36. I'm praying that I can get up there to visit soon. 8D
Opps. It's county road 61 off of State route 313. I found out that my cousin is useing the farm to run Two Dirty Hoes CSA. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1573802889&sk=photos#!/pages/Two-Dirty-Hoes-CSA/169513383091940?sk=info
Fairly new here and of course, love it! I just checked in before nodding off while lying in bed with the lights out, hubby snoozing next to me and I can't tell you how that little video was the perfect thing to take in before I head off to dream. Night! :)
My favorite part is you only passed 3 other cars the whole time (from what we could see.) That makes for a lovely drive in the country versus a "work commute." Thank you for sharing your beautiful piece of the world!
When you travel that area of Veryork, you always know when you've crossed the state line because there is an immediate change in road quality. It's been that way for the 60 years I have memory of It was nice to see 313. The cones on the road indicate flood damage from Irene I presume.
Yup, those cones are where the Battenkill came up on the road.
The roads are generally better in VT, as far as blacktopping goes, but in all fairness they JUST redid that whole stretch of that part of Vermont this summer. I'll show a video in winter of how when you drive home in the snow how the VT roads are covered, icy, and look like you're driving in a field of snow and then soon as you hit NY they are black and safe! Talk about which state has better roads then!
When I visit Dad in the winter, I'm always amazed at how soon in a storm the NYDOT starts plowing and sanding. Sounds like VT and ME are similar in winter road care.
In the background I had the song Sleepsong from Secret Garden running on another tab(Youtube). It was perfect with this video. Really, you should try it. Just beautiful!
Jenna--I loved the video and the music. Beautiful. You are just so excellent at getting these classes planned. I want to come sometime--impossible now, but it's good to know you're doing all this to help others. You are awesome. I love the way you've allowed us to see how you started and all the excellent progress you've made. Mimi
What an excellent road. You would have kittens if you saw our single track little Welsh lanes with "passing places". The first essential of driving in Wales is learning how to reverse (if you don't already know!!) Lovely spot you live in by the look of things.
Enjoy the story of a young writer living in Washington County with her fancy dogs, sheep, lots of chickens, fiber & meat rabbits, geese, ducks, turkeys, a hive and a garden. Expect to hear a lot about mountain music, the civil war, local food, and my friends along the way. It's a big time folks.

Beautiful music and countryside....but I'd feel better if you put the camera down and concentrated on your driving:)
Beautiful... I can't even count how many times I have come away from this blog feeling inspired. :)
Jenna, what CD is that, and who is it by?
Whoa, what an awesome part of the country you live in, Jenna!

(I do appreciate the concern, though!)
Thanks for taking us home with you. Loved the way Gibson would turn and look at you.
Beautiful! Thank you for taking us along for the ride.
You must feel totally relaxed by the time you arrive at the farm.
What a blessing...
Gorgeous country; I am jealous! So green, and the road slips inside nature, instead of the other way around.
I notice Vermont seems to have better roads than NY. :)
What a beautiful drive, I hope you will share it again when the leaves start turning!
i love how the road goes instantly bumpy the second you hit New York; just like when i drive out of Ontario and into Quebec.
the music is beautiful and so is the countryside. i love vermont and look forward to my yearly visit to the quilt show there.
Now I know why you never wave back when I see you!

Love that Gibson can go to work with you—life is so good with a dog riding shotgun. Beautiful music and country. Thanks for sharing.

And right where this video ends I turned through Shushan!

"That's a street!"
"A doggie!"
"That's not our street."
My two year olds take on your nice video. :)

Loved the song, the dog, and the drive. Gibson should learn to drive so you could relax on the way home.
Yeah, Shushan!
Floridagirl, That is great idea. I love it!
Ha Ha.
So pretty! I miss trees. And hills. And greenness.
Nice!!!
