what a dummy

Got a box of tomatoes (seconds) at Stannard's Farm stand for 5 dollars and set them in the back of my truck over a few bags of mulch. Then, as I drove through Bennington I heard the slam of the tailgate opening and watched as the box of thirty tomatoes hurled behind me and landed in front of a Subaru, who didn't even swerve and hit them full force, sending red blobs everywhere.

I came home and unloaded the heavy bags of mulch to do some landscape work and sat down with a plop, forgetting my iphone in the back pocket I was using as my storyteller, an audiobook distracting me. It shattered, glass looking like a bullet hit it. I couldn't afford a new one if an iPhone Store was around the corner from my farm, which it most certainly is not. Some sighs are longer than others.

Minor faults in an otherwise beautiful day. Got the animals trained and seen to, going to spend the evening before dark setting up the new hot wire around the sheep's main pen, give that grass a break from their antics. All that time in the pasture has turned it into moss, it needs some rain and a good week without hooves on it to start growing back to good. Hoping no more losses for this beautiful Sunday evening, but I'm not counting my crows just yet.

Sorry Jenna- the visual of the Subaru and the tomatoes--- that is just too funny. Thanks for cracking me up- sorry, bad pun since the next oops in your day. Days like that make us relish the days where nothing goes boom, poof, or smash. Hope you have a nice rest of your day.

Hey Jenna! You may no longer have tomatoes or an IPhone, but what you DO have is a great attitude about life in all its scintillating and challenging glory! :-D Hope the rest of your day provides you with only treats.

Darn...glad you're in good enough spirits still! I could picture that tomato scene perfectly right down to the clunk of the tail gate and the smooshed goods in the rear view mirror. Wishing you an uneventful Sunday from this point on!

Bummer! If it's just the glass that broke on your iphone, I know someone who bought a spare glass online for like $5 and was able to fix it himself. Worth a shot!

I have to agree the Subaru and tomato collision visual is pretty funny and you're only out $5. The iPhone is another story. Guess the insurance would have been a good investment for you but you have to figure what you would have paid for it vs what a new phone costs. If you have to get a new one, hopefully they can capture all your stuff.

ah, the phone. this is why, despite how ridiculous i may look to any passers-by, i am a firm believer in the bib pocket of my overalls. i always keep my phone in there safe and sound, and my hanky in my back pocket. (i've got bluetooth headphones so i can listen and work without cords flapping about -- and they can even be used to answer/talk on the phone! motorola s10's...put them on your xmas list. fer realz. )

heck, jenna, i'm just a yardener; you should have at least 3 pairs of overalls for the much-muckier work you do, and the amount of tunes-listening you do whilst working! :)

well it does &€@!

For the iPhone, I will strongly encourage you to contact your home owner insurance, you might be covered. If you bought it with a credit card check this too, we are sometimes covered against accidental damage without knowing it .... just my lucky experienced talking after I broke the screen of a laptop ....

and by the way, tracfone is not all that bad ....

I'm glad I wasn't the only one chuckling over the tomatoe-bombing incident.

apple will do a one time replacement of your iphone if it is shattered. Mine flew out of my hand getting out of my truck and I got an appt an an apple store and walked out with a brand new one with all my info transferred over and a smile! They might do the same thing online. It is certainly worth a check!
Bummer about the tomatoes!

Saw some ketchup on the road near Hannaford's, and was wondering where those tomatoes came from. Now I know! Lol. Try Moses farm, too. They have a great deal on pick-your-own.

I kinda like the idea of rigging up a crate of tomatoes to use against road ragers and tail gaiters.

My iPhone died a couple of days ago. I'll probably replace it with a non-smart phone. Much cheaper and I'm getting really burned out on a lot technology.

Oh no! I was just going to comment how much I've enjoyed all the videos you've been posting lately Jenna. I hope this is fixable and that we keep getting to see films of sheep and surprise baby chicks.

We're sorry about your mishaps, but my wife said she felt much better about her day after reading about yours.

I would have loved to have seen the tomatoes hitting the Subaru.
