Jenna, thank you so much. I had never heard of him. I love when I come here and find all these great singers that I would probably not ever hear. So thank you again for all the new music I am listening to now. I will check out his books too. Going to the library tomorrow so will see if they have any.

Jenna I agree 100%, he has been my author crush ever since I first read Population 485 years ago. I am from a town not too far away from him so listening to his Wisconsin accent on his youtube videos always cured my homesickness while living in NYC.
I just checked out two of his books from the library after reading your post: Truck and Coop. I can tell already that I'm going to enjoy his books. My husband restores pre-1950 cars and trucks - he'll get a kick out of the 1951 International truck. We drive a 1950 Plymouth four door sedan - looks like something June Cleaver would take to the grocery store, LOL.
I can always count on you to enlighten me about books and people. Thanks much.
I bought a book based on your recommendation. Looking forward to reading it. Even the preface is funny.
Good news from the Tal homefront - Mister gave me a chicken coop for our anniversary and we have two hives ready for colonies. The garden is still producing and it's nearly time to start fall veg. The backyard is coming together. I may not be in the country, yet, but I'm doing the best I can.
He was just at our local library (we're not that far away from New Auburn) and I was so tempted to take off work to go...but a little short on days off right now so I didn't. I'm sure I will catch him in person sometime soon! If you need a place in WI to "crash" and meet your "crush", let me know, lol!
Thanks for making me aware of Michael Perry. I love his writing and can find so much of myself in his idiosyncrasies. I'm Half-way through Truck... can't wait for Coop!
Enjoy the story of a young writer living in Washington County with her fancy dogs, sheep, lots of chickens, fiber & meat rabbits, geese, ducks, turkeys, a hive and a garden. Expect to hear a lot about mountain music, the civil war, local food, and my friends along the way. It's a big time folks.

Yup. I'm not sure if I thought that deeply about my life that I'd find so much humor!
I'll say!
nice truck
I want the truck.
Absolutely! "Coop" was hilarious and thought-provoking and poignant all at once. Thanks for the reminder!
Coop is one of my favorite books. Author swoon indeed!
Yeah, are you sure it's not the truck you have a crush on?
Truck is just as funny, just as insightful... and sets the stage beautifully for Coop. Long may he write... and talk and sing!

The Amazon reader suggestions from his books led me to your books. He just keeps on giving!
And who could blame you with that picture!

The truck is nice. The flannel, guitar, knit hat, writer next to it isn't so bad either....
I know he's taken. But a girl can dream. Can't she?!

video of him and the coop and truck!
let's break up a couple. You can have him (I already have Coop) and I will take the truck.

I didn't know who he was before now - thanks!
He's a "local" boy! I could stalk him for you HAHAHA.
Truck, definitely. I've always wanted one of those. Some day!
I've read Coop and 485, truck is next. But he READS 485 to you on audiobook, and all the music is him on guitar and it is wonderful.
sigh.

Thanks for the crush info. I just reserved a book of his essays at the library after reading his website. This should be fun! Karen from CT

Let's not neglect to mention he's kinda hot too...he's a trifecta!
They had Coop at the library when I went today. I like it so far.
I've never heard of him. I'll check him out.
Blessings,
Dianne

Do you know his music, too? It's damn good. He's a heck of a nice guy, too.
