I got a new charcoal grill this year but it has been too hot to put it together (upper 90's ever day for a week). But I can't wait to use it. Yours looks soooo good.

What did you do Jenna use a whole bottle of lighter fluid? LOL.

The Daughton family calls lighter fluid "Liquid Boyscout" which I think is amazing!

I really like our chimney coal starter. You can get the coals going with only a couple pieces of newspapers. Starting fires is the only fit use for some newspapers. (Or lining bird cages.) My father used to call our local papers the Morning Error and the Evening Apology. Anyway, you can get your coals going just fine with a chimney and not use starter, which I think makes the food taste funny.

I would second Paula's suggestion of the chimney starter (usually only $15 or so at hardware store or online) - we love ours and it 1) heats up coals faster and 2) requires no lighter fluid.

My brother, the former boy scout, calls lighter fluid "girl scout water". I think that's hilarious.

Half the pleasure of grilling is the flames and the smell that permeates and creates that Life is Good feeling (speaking as an anti gas grill person here). Love the background audience!

Chiming in on the chimney starter here! I can't start a fire on the grate for squat, but the chimney starter never fails me.

Paula, love your Dad's paper names--creative guy. :)
