rose of bedlam farm

Just back from a visit to Bedlam Farm in Hebron, which was celebrating the opening of Maria's art gallery in the Pig Barn. It was a big time and Jon invited me to join him up in the field to watch his girl Rose work during the herding demonstration. Look at her go!

I just finished your book "Made from Scratch" and wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed it. Brillant writer. Keep on writing and farming. You are a huge inspiration.

I am taking a workshop next week on farming in Illinois and hope to have one in 3 years. Office work can be a drag. I understand. I have a garden but no chickens. Condo doesn't allow them. Ha ha

Keep up the great work. Self sufficient - that's the way to be.

I thought of you the first time I watched some of his vids showing Rose. Wondered if he did it right he seems so casual with the commands to her. She sure is happy to have sheep to focus on! Bet it was fun, he has a great blog.
Love your dutch door for Jasper, I used to have a pony named Jester, same dickens of spirit.

WOW! You got to meet Jon! I love all his books. He is a nice guy. I wrote him an email once about how much I loved his book and he wrote back! Speaks volumes to me. Jealous you got to see Rose work. Rose inspired me to get my own Border collie. I decided that if I could survive living with an Australian Cattle Dog, a Border collie would be do big deal. (I don't know what I would do with Labs or other "normal" dogs. I only know crazy all out high energy ladies) Love my Luna! Amazing dogs! Now if only I could get myself some sheep! Glad you had a good time Jenna!

I read your posy and clicked the link to Bedlam Farm and was immediately caught up in the story of Simon. What a wonderful group of people that have opened their lives to animals who need help. Hope you enjoyed your trip there.

I'm jealous of the art gallery. That's my dream, to put in a studio here at Great Bend Bakery Farm to sell my jewelry and paintings and other country crafts. :) It's awesome to know that at least one person out there has been able to do this; it adds hope that this dream will be realized. Wonderful! Thanks for telling us about it. :)
