That is some beautiful, enviable dirt! I love being barefoot, but can't so much here. Every single thing in Texas is stabby, hot, stingy, bitey or sharp. Yours look like happy feet indeed!
Take care with those toes, Jenna! Besides the hoe, there are lots of sharp and/or dangerous things in there (such as Tara mentioned) not to mention fungus and staph and strep bacteria (ever hear of the flesh-eating ones?) You're far better of in a pair of boots or at least some high top sneakers. Yeah, I know I sound like your mother, but I have kids older than you, so I can't help it. A major foot injury or disease could put a serious crimp in your ability to care for your farm, your animals, your garden....and yourself.
Enjoy the story of a young writer living in Washington County with her fancy dogs, sheep, lots of chickens, fiber & meat rabbits, geese, ducks, turkeys, a hive and a garden. Expect to hear a lot about mountain music, the civil war, local food, and my friends along the way. It's a big time folks.

Love it.
Barefoot in the dirt is fantastic.
Lady, barefoot in the dirt is one of the best places to be. I really like digging my little piggies under the soil to cool them down.
Barefeet in warm earth. I love it.
Jenna, you soooooooooooooo cool.
so great!
Farm feet. Wonderful.
Have you ever hit a toe with your hoe?!
aw, you have cute feet! mine are all size-ten and silly-toed. :)
"Barefoot in the 'tater patch" sounds like a fiddle tune.

I promise to be careful!
I hoe so far out from my body it would be impossible to hit a digit. I am resting in this photo.
I am lucky the dirt is soft and safe to walk in.
I have soil envy... :(
Even with lots of compost, used bedding, and straight up turds added to it my dirt is still sandy and not at all black!
It's a lot better than it was even a year ago, but it has a long way to go until it looks like that!
