her name is...
Pig.
Just, Pig.
And Kathleen, you are the winner for offering that suggestion first and simplest. Though I did love (and consider) Hazel, Petunia, Natalie Porkman, Portia, and Sue). Email me Kathleen so I can send you a signed copy of Chick Days! And thank you to all who entered!

That'll do, Pig
love it. a friend tried to find a show name for his big t-bred mare rose, and ended up showing her under--*just rose*.
Congrats Kathleen! Pig's a good name for a pig. One day, when I get a dog, it's name is probably going to be Pup.
-Autumn
yay!
We have a Rat Terrior named "Puppy". Although I would cal "Pig" the pig. and should you have more than one "the pigs".
This is completely off topic, but do you have any winter book suggestions?
Now back on topic. Congrats Kathleen! Great name!! I love it.
yeah! I'll make a post!
Congratulations Kathleen.
Love it! Our parakeet's name was "Bird". We called him Birdo, though.
Congrats, Kathleen! Greta name. I always called ours Porkchop and Bacon and Ribs. Now I have to think up a new name for the new pig. It might just be The New Pig.
hey jenna -- in the middle of reading made from scratch now -- and enjoying it! it's got me re-daydreaming about the 3 or 4 hens (or pullets) i'd like to adopt this spring...
Hehe, that's totally unfair because you were already calling her "Pig"
;)
Congrats on winning Kathleen!
We used to have a mouse named Mouse-Mouse! And the rabbit is Bunny Foo-Foo.
Oh, wow! That is such a great name - it is so original! It's almost like you didn't even need to have 200+ people trying to come up with a proper name to give her the respect she deserves...
lol, good name, I just had a name pop into my head after thinking about it for a few days, but I see I'm too late. I would have suggested "Serendipity"
I think it's never a good idea to name your food, but Pig certainly works, as it's a description as much as a name!
Truthfully I have no problem naming my food-destined animals.
It helps you to keep in mind that they're living things too (like any of us really haven't thought of them that way anyhow).
As long as you remember that they ARE for consumption at some time in their life, I've never had any problems with it.
