Because I'm me, I forgot to go to this Young Farmer Mixer in Albany this past Thursday. Kinda harsh to realize I missed the chance to meet young gents interested in learning how to raise livestock on pasture. So, if you were planning on going, falling madly in love with me, and living happily ever after please send me an email and I'll try not to miss the wedding.

I kid. I'm a kidder.

Albany? The city that voted to ban the keeping of chickens within city limits? Would they even have allowed young farmers to gather here? Maybe you could call for a gathering for Saratoga Springs, Jenna.

Argh. But look - they're having another event on Dec. 1st, somewhere in the Hudson Valley, so all is not lost!

Call, sign up for the next one, and we will all try to remind you. This is a great opportunity to meet guys. If you don't go to the next one, I will personally send you a virtual bop on the head. :-)

Ah Jenna. I know you are just devastated. To think that he's out there and was probably THERE! Darn. Well, ya know what? If he was there and you were meant for each other, there will be another chance to meet.

Yes, I agree with all the others. Host your own young farmers gathering. He'll come.

I know there's a NOFA conference in Saratoga in January. Michael Kilpatrick will be speaking so I'm going to try to go.

Saratoga doesn't allow chickens either, neither does Ballston Spa, but hopefully my husband can get that overturned. :)

When is the next one? Sounds like fun! Or you could do the next best thing and host one there at the farm! A Farmers' Fiddlin' Potluck so to speak...or maybe I should ask how large a crowd are we talking about?

Is there a website that you frequent to find these types of gatherings? Heck...I was missing so many meetings that my boss told me that I needed to start using the calendar on my phone! (I hate it when he's right...)

I see the problem. Farmers (even young ones) can't possibly attend anything from 8-11 pm. We're asleep. :)
