the new guy

My internet is down at the house, has been since Saturday morning. I'm not sure why. It's frustrating. It's why we went through a weekend without updates at CAF, and for that I apologize. I wanted to just send a quick update about the dogs since people have been asking how they are getting along. There seems to be some concern about Jazz and Annie adapting to the new puppy?

So far, so good. Annie plays, sleeps, and entertains Gibson best she can and Jazz tolerates him with his nose in the air. There have been as many warning growls for stealing food and biting tails as necessary—but so far not so much as a snap at the little guy. We all spent the weekend together, at home, and while I won't let the three alone unsupervised yet, there hasn't been any signs of danger in their pack. I think we'll be okay.

When we got a puppy a million years ago we were never really worried how my old lab would take it. We figured he would just ignore her and tolerate the annoying puppy antics. What we didn't expect was the new life the puppy breathed into the old guy. He was a new dog and spent the last 4 years of life spry and playful because of her attention. Everyone is happier with family, including the dogs.

Great picture, glad all is calm. One of my dogs bit my puppy in the face Friday, nothing serious but still a vet visit, and she's been with us 2 months already so don't let your guard down too soon.

Aww, I wish I could smell him. We need smell-a-vision for computers. I love the smell of a puppy.

He is so adorable! Looks very similar to the Australian shepherd pup that my folks just brought home yesterday. Love this photo!

Don't apologize for missing a few days (though I did miss you!) With all you've got going on, I'm amazed at how frequently you can update us. (And also a little addicted to your pics!)

Gibson looks so adorable there. Perhaps the lack of snapping is as much a testament to his good sense and manners? Wish my dog had had the opportunity to be dog-socialized as a pup. Gibson's sure to be a well-rounded doggie!

The little guy just wants a little snuggle on the cushion there. Cute. Our heeler Jack just turned one. He sits under the fir trees yapping at those big Western Gray squirrels who taunt him. When he's not doing that he is shredding everything in sight. We just introduced 4 wethers to the farm, and oh boy, you get the picture.

Cute overload! But that could be Annie thinking, "What do you think you're doing?!"

I know how I'd feel if my little brother climbed into bed with me. I once as a kid stayed over my grandma's house, and one night I dreamed my little brother had climbed into bed with me and I was so mad I wound up startling my grandmother out of a deep sleep by kicking her solidly in the kidneys. I apologized and felt really bad, but I think that was the last time I stayed at my grandma's house....
