Enjoy the story of a young writer living in Washington County with her fancy dogs, sheep, lots of chickens, fiber & meat rabbits, geese, ducks, turkeys, a hive and a garden. Expect to hear a lot about mountain music, the civil war, local food, and my friends along the way. It's a big time folks.

good old chuck! hahaha
rabble rouser!
I went to the Topsfield Fair last weekend, in Topsfield, MA, and saw so many chickens in little cages and they looked just miserable from so many days on show at the fair. When I was a child we raised chickens in our backyard. I love seeing your little guy out and about, loving life.
I live in a small city, but pretty urban, and I stumbled upon your blog when I googled Urban Homesteading. I am becoming increasingly more interested in living a more authentic life and less interested in accumulating stuff and status. It is time to slow down, breathe, and simplify.
I gather from your blog that you LOVE Halloween. I live in Halloween Central - Salem, MA
I really enjoy your blog.
LOL at Chuck- you go rooster!!!
Yes! It did it! I finished reading your entire blog yesterday. I started Monday and finished Saturday morning. I took every spare moment, and the not so spare to read it. I feel like I've read a really good book and am now waiting for the sequel.
I am a homeschooling mom of two. I live in So. California. My husband moved our horses this spring so I could have a bigger gardening spot. I was so hopeful, but they were dashed by hungry squirrels, disgusting looking bugs, and my uneven watering practices. But hope is renewed by putting in a fall garden.
My daughters horse trainer says you have to enjoy the journey. If all you look forward to is the prize you miss so much. I feel that is what you are doing - enjoying your journey. Thank you for sharing your "in between time" with rest of us!
he looks as if to say...."oh yeah? What are you going to do about it?"
Hello Jenna, :-)
I just wanted to let you know that I am currently reading your book and am absolutely in love with it. You're opening a whole new world of possibilities to me!
I've had this crazy idea to have a small homestead, eventually. And to know that you were able to do it gives me plenty of hope. :-)
I am so glad you have a blog, I am -so- adding you to my Google Reader. ^-^
Thanks!
I can just hear him say "technically I'm a rooster so the sign obviously does not apply to me. Well sure if you want to be GENERAL about it....."
Chuck is looking for more hens for his own harem. Roosters don't like to share, and get "cocky" when they have to...:)
